Our long-standing working relationships with our schools mean we are able to discuss, listen and respond to CPD needs in schools. Our recruitment and CPD working group meets termly to discuss schools’ needs and our network of external facilitators and specialists mean we are able to offer a flexible and comprehensive CPD provision to staff. This all contributes to a CPD programme that’s right for you and which is bespoke to Hounslow.

NQT Induction Programme

Your NQT Induction year is the final stage of your qualification and one where the level of support around you is essential to your success.

Successfully completing an NQT Induction year is a statutory requirement if you wish to pursue a career in the maintained sector.

Hounslow recognises that your Induction Year is one of the most significant parts of your career, which is why we offer schools the opportunity to purchase attendance, for those undertaking statutory NQT Induction, at an extensive induction programme held at HPDC. Our three term programme is organised into separate morning sessions for KS2 and KS1/EYs NQTs and has been planned with reference to the Teachers’ Standards 2012. School based practitioners, headteachers, consultants and LA colleagues lead the individual sessions. These are designed to enable NQTs to extend the knowledge and skills acquired through their initial teacher training by exploring issues on a wider level, sharing good practice and networking with colleagues. 

A supportive environment

If you attend our NQT Induction programme, you will find yourself part of a community that knows what that first year of teaching is like. NQTs from schools across the borough come together for mutual support and networking opportunities, meaning you don’t feel alone and can share information and practice.

Opportunities are provided in sessions for questioning, discussion and reflection. As a participant you will be encouraged to contribute to discussion groups and take part in activities in order to strengthen your induction experience. It’s intended that attendance at the programme will have a positive impact on your practice in the classroom and extend your knowledge of the role and responsibilities of the professional. Our NQT programme is rated as an excellent resource by our NQTs and schools and can be a significant element in your overall programme of induction with us.
