There are a number of national teacher training initiatives for teachers and schools staff that are aimed at raising the standards of teaching, developing teacher’s career skills and enabling the learning and achievement of children.
The London Borough of Hounslow is a Straight to Teaching Hub in partnership with the TES Institute.
Straight to Teaching is an initial teacher training (ITT) work-based route to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Applicants to the course will need to be working in a school that will support them on the route. Successful completion of the course takes 1 - 3 school terms through a combination of teaching observation and evidences of meeting the Teaching Standards.
It is an ideal route for support staff, including Teaching Assistants, who would like to become Qualified Teachers.
